Wetherby Field at Fort Benning, Georgia
The Miss Columbus and Miss Southern Rivers Pageants are proud to announce the upcoming “A Salute to Our Troops” event that will be held at Fort Benning on Saturday, May 19th, 2012. Miss Georgia 2011 Michaela Lackey, Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen 2011, Julia Martin and our local titleholders will be spending the day with the troops, culminating in a USO musical revue at Wetherby Field. The day-long event with the troops is for the titleholders only, but the show is open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to come out and show your support for our MAO titleholders and for our Armed Forces. This will be our 10th annual show. There is a special seating area reserved for the “civilians” where you can join in the excitement with the 4000 recruits! The show begins at 7:00 PM and the field opens at 6:00 PM. There is no charge to attend. All franchise board members, family and friends are specially invited, and our contestants really want you there to share in their experience. We look forward to seeing our fellow franchises there.
Directions to Wetherby Field
On I-185 Southbound, DO NOT EXIT. I-185 goes straight onto and dead ends on post. After passing Exit 1 on I-185, get into the left hand lane. This will turn into the visitors' center. You will proceed to the post entrance where you need to register. and receive visitor's pass. Once through the entrance, merge right and get off at Custer Road. At the top of the exit, turn left. About a mile to 2 miles down, there will be a vacant checkpoint. Immediately after this checkpoint, take the first right. Signs should be posted for the field.

A Salute to Our Troops 6th Annual

The Miss Columbus/Miss Southern Rivers Board presents the 6th annual "A Salute to Our Troops" event at Wetherby Field at Fort Benning, Georgia. Miss Georgia 2008 contestants performed a USO variety musical show for over 4000 recruits. The Miss Georgia contestants spent the day at Fort Benning visiting the base, participating in combat maneuvers, training in hand grenades, challenging the obstacle course, eating in the mess hall with the recruits, signing autographs and posing for pictures with these fine young men. A wonderful time was had by all. Thanks to all the participants , volunteers and Ft. Benning's 192d Infantry Brigade. God Bless America and God Bless Our Troops.
